Bridal prep took place at the ceremony site, the Allen East Community Center in Harrod, Ohio. This building used to be the school and they still have original carpet lol...gotta love that vibrant green! We arrived to a classroom full of ladies in sweet matching robes getting beautified for the day while snacking on berries. The ladies wore dusty blue dresses varying in style. Sabrina wore a gorgeous V-neck, pocketed (I love pockets!) lace gown, lace heels, and a delicate belt. She wore her hair half up in loose curls, with two beautiful hair combs and a finger tip veil with lace accents. Her jewelry was simple with a single pearl necklace and pearl drop earrings.
AHHH another first look <3 I used to have the bride come up and place her hand on the groom to have him turn around. That is great, but he only can see her face at first, so now I like to have her call from a distance so he sees the full package. We instruct the bride to then walk to her groom. This is the 2nd time in a row the groom couldn't contain himself and started towards his beautiful girl. I even heard Sabrina say, "I don't think you were supposed to come to me" lol I could have forgotten that part when talking to Curtis or maybe it is that most grooms just want to get to their bride to be. Whatever it is, I love it and think it is great! Go get that girl <3
What a perfect little hidden gem! I had never been to a wedding at or even knew this place existed but the old Allen East School has a beautiful courtyard and I am in LOVE! The ivy growing up the trees, the mix of industrial and nature, the reflective mirror windows... it is a perfect little spot for an intimate wedding. I truly felt like I was in a magical mystery garden as the guest filed in and pops of Harry Potter music filtered into the pre-ceremony music. At that moment I knew Sabrina was my people :)
Since Sabrina + Curtis opted for the first look and put a little buffer of time between the ceremony and reception we had time to do two locations for the bridal party and a little champagne celebration!

The reception was held at the Howard Johnson in Lima, Ohio. The decorations were sweet and simple and reflected Sabrina's love of reading with stacks of books on each table. The dances with each parent really touched me, Sabrina picked a song my dad used to sing when I was teeny tiny and I actually had forgotten it, and as soon as it started playing tears pricked my eyes. And Curtis with his mom.... I want to imagine that is how I am going to handle my mother | son dance in the future. Right away Curtis and his mom were overtaken with emotion but by 1/2 through the song they were jamming out to the song, singing to each other, and smiling. <3
