Sweet Scarlett is turning 1 next week!!! Her mommy contacted me for a mini session and had all these wonderful ideas. She spent hours creating her props and they look amazing! We planned our session for Wednesday with a forecast of beautiful and sunny. Wouldn't ya know it 3 hours before the session we had a torrential downpour out of NOWHERE! It was sunny and beautiful for her session with a side of muggy and swampland :( At least Scarlett's brothers enjoyed themselves lol! While I was talking to Lindsay (Scarlett's mommy) the boys found some puddles and within minutes were running through them and doing belly slides through the deep muddy ones. Classic case of boys being boys :) We decided to let it dry out for a day and try the next day. We still had a little bit of sogginess but it wasn't too bad. Scarlett was as ornery as could be and cute as a button. She showed us her Houdini skills in her stroller while we were setting up her props by wiggling out of her belts and standing precariously in a wobbly stroller before mom could reach her!! She was a joy to photograph always providing sweet smiles. I love the black and white picture of her in the high chair..you can see the ornery. It's like she is saying "Alright I'm done here, I'm going to stand up are you going to stop me?"

This is my good friend Deena and her darling little family. I’ve been taking pictures of her since sweet Hailey was in her belly :) We were discussing ideas for their session and Deena said, "I have lots of props at my house, not a great view, but lots of props!" I said, “Well, I’ll swing by your place first to look through them and then we’ll head to the park.” I got to her house and was in LOVE! Boy was she wrong! Everything was amazing, from the porch, to the grassy hill on the other side of the road! I’d like to say a GIANT thank you to Zac for pointing out there was poison ivy everywhere on that hill before I made them sit in it...that could have been VERY bad! I know what poison ivy looks like, but I don’t get it, so sometimes I forget to look YIKES! Their kitty kept photo bombing our session and Hailey did amazing for this being her 2nd session in 2 days. She even came up with some fun poses with her mom. The car in the photos belonged to Deena’s father who unexpectedly passed away recently. She LOVES that car and the memories attached to it. I loved that we were able to capture a piece of him in this family session <3
Alex and his mom Karen are the sweetest people! They picked me up for the shoot since they live pretty close to me. I am starting to really like riding with clients to their sessions because it gives me the opportunity to get to know them before we start :) Alex was such an easy going guy and handled my creative flow very well! I try to have a plan but once I get on site ideas just start flooding in and we will be headed one direction and I'll say "Oh Wait! Let's try this!" We had been watching the weather all week up to a few hours before the shoot was supposed to take place. The clouds looked like they could burst at any moment! We had a few sprinkles to start and ended up getting completely rained out about an hour later but we made the best of it. The middle picture was taken when Karen ran to get the car while we waited in an alcove that housed the creepiest, broke down, ice cream truck ever! While I was taking that picture I told Alex he better tell me if somebody comes out of that truck while my back is to it!!
Wow ! What an awesome session! We had an amazing day to take photos and these two were great to work with! Hailey arrived a few minutes after her dad, and the minute her feet hit the ground she went running up to him flinging herself into his arms with the biggest smile. At that moment I knew this session would be amazing! I was also thinking, "Dang, why is my camera still in my bag?!" The natural moments between these two were great and the sweetness and love was overwhelming during this shoot. While I was taking the grass image below I saw Hailey whisper "I Love You" while looking down at her daddy, I have no words for how sweet that moment was. I am totally in love with this session and as one of my FB followers commented, "What a treasure this will be to her {Hailey} one day."
